We recently had the privilege of providing the entertainment for Wingo and Katie Wong's wedding as the DJ for their reception at the incredible Cardinal Club located in Raleigh, North Carolina. There was much fun and many surprises throughout the evening! The ceremony was on the 28th floor overlooking the city. Once the couple was proclaimed husband and wife, everyone made their way up the spiral staircase to the 29th floor and the cocktail hour began. The main reception room was beautifully set up and decorated, complete with a magnificently designed cake by Jennifer at Ambrosia. Wingo and Katie's family and friends were invited into the reception hall. The introductions were minutes later and as we introduced and welcomed Dr. and Mrs. Wingo and Katie Wong, the crowd erupted with a loud round of applause! As the applause died down we transitioned right into their first song as husband and wife. The couple then gave a heart felt welcome to everyone in attendance. Once the couple had completed their welcome I introduced Katie's grandfather who offered a blessing before dinner service. Dinner was served up with the class and style everyone has come to expect from Rebecca Naderman and her staff at The Cardinal Club. Now it was time for the surprises to begin....
The first surprise of the evening was a flawless and fun presentation of ballroom dancing presented by Juan and Amanda, the professional team from Mucho Rhythm. The second surprise of the evening was unveiled, a traditional Chinese Lion Dance presented by a Raleigh based Kung Fu School. I had never seen anything like it! It was Incredible! The next surprise was another energetic ballroom dance routine by the professional team of Juan and Amanda of Much Rhythm. This was the close of a fantastic dinner filled with entertainment. The excitement did not end there. It was time for the toasts and one by one we welcomed Katie's father, the maid of honor and the best man, who took the microphone for a funny toast followed up by a hilarious karaoke version of Mariah Carey's "Always Be my Baby" It was so funny!
Now that the toasts were complete, I invited Dr. Wingo Wong and his mother to the dance floor for their mother/son dance. Followed by Katie inviting her father to the dance floor for a special father/daughter dance. The room melted when the two began to dance to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland. At Katie's request, I custom created and edited a song mix of several songs and as the slow dance between father and daughter came to an end, the final surprise of the evening was revealed. The father/daughter dance erupted into a dance routine choreographed to a montage of songs including "Shout", "You Should Be Dancing", "Give Me Just a Little More Time", followed by "Shake Your Booty", "Ice, Ice Baby", "Teach Me How to Dougie", "What Does the Fox Say" and last but not least, it was all wrapped up with "Party Rock Anthem". It was absolutely AWESOME!!
Now that the dance floor was primed and ready to rock, the party and dancing began! The cake was cut at 9:00pm followed by the garter and the bouquet tosses. Once the garter and bouquet had found their new owners, the party continued into the evening with a packed dance floor and much mayhem.
