We were super excited to be a part of the wedding ceremony and reception celebrating Kevin & Britney Woodhull-Smith's special day on June 22, 2013. It all happened at The State Club on the NC State Campus. Three words described the entire evening: IT WAS SPECTACULAR!
The activities started on Friday the 21st with their ceremony rehearsal. We were happy to
participate in the organization and rehearse with the family and friends. One of our favorite wedding officiants, Robin Renteria was also in attendance. She wrapped her arms around the entire rehearsal, delivered a brief intro to put things into perspective and then, ran through the entire ceremony twice and it was done! Her approach was impeccable, fun and everyone had a great time!
Saturday, June 22nd, the day began early with two complete sound systems to set up. Once the set up and sound check were complete, it would soon be time for the festivities to begin. The family started arriving around 5:15 and the seating music had already begun (with a custom light classic rock mix specially requested by the soon to be married couple). The ceremony began promptly at the stroke of 6 pm and things ran perfectly and beautifully!
I'd like to introduce to you Mr. and Mrs. Kevin & Britney Woodhull-Smith!
Once the couple was officially married, family and friends headed downstairs for the cocktail hour in the gorgeous marble foyer surrounded by some of the most stately winding stair cases on the East coast! Wendy Dorman and her polished staff at The State Club, once again, delivered incredible service, drinks and food! The cocktail hour concluded and everyone was invited into the main ballroom....
Once everyone was in their seats, the introductions began! As Kevin and Britney stepped into the main ballroom they were greeted with thundering applause and a room lit up with camera flashes courtesy of Cyn Kain Photography. The next step was their first dance as husband and wife: TheFray - Look After You. As the music faded out as well as the applause, Britney invited her father to join her on the dance floor. As their song ended, Kevin invited his mother to the dance floor.
It was almost dinner time, but before the buffet was brought into the room, Britney's father, Mr. Robert Richardson was introduced to the center of the room for an official welcome. The welcome was warm and well received...after which the buffet was brought into the room and it was dinner time.
The toasts were the next event of the evening and they were introduced right after dinner. Laughter was accompanied by a few tears as well as applause. The toasts were over in about 10 minutes and that led to the cutting of the cake. The cake was a mountain of scrumptious cupcakes provided by Gigi's Cupkcakes!
Cue the DANCE PARTY and the dance floor was immediately PACKED!
The throwing of the bouquet and the garter took place an hour after the dancing began. The bouquet was successfully caught as well as the garter.....and it was back to the DANCING!
As the evening reached it's conclusion, it was time for the last dance: K-Ci & JoJo - All My Life. The music faded and the applause faded and immediately led to the quick instructions to head to the front door, grab some sparklers and form two lines. It was time for Britney and Kevin to head out into the moonlight!
