Ninety Nine Entertainment had the privilege of providing the music and entertainment for a funtastic wedding reception on June 9, 2012 at the Sarah P. Duke Gardens. Amy Burig and Philip D'Unger were the bride and groom and their friends and family were a blast!
The evening began with the ceremony in the gardens overlooking a scenic pond and landscaping that is only known to exist in these world famous gardens.
The family and friends moved onto the patio, once the ceremony concluded, where John Brown from JB Jazz had assembled a professional jazz group to entertain for the cocktail hour. John Brown, a bassist, composer and educator currently serves as Director of the Jazz Program and Associate Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke University.
The cocktail hour also included hors d'oeuvres and an open bar served up by Triangle Catering.
The post ceremony pictures were snapped in the center of the garden and upon the final 3 photos the bride was stung by a bee making that session more memorable than she may have wanted!
Now that the photos were complete and the cocktail hour was at it's end, it was time to invite everyone into the main ballroom. I visited each group of guests and began inviting them inside. Once everyone was in the ballroom, I began lining up the wedding party the big introductions. After explaining the logistics of the intro, I headed inside to prep the music, insure the photographer was ready to roll and the people were primed for the next steps.....
Cue the music - Black Eyed Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" prompted the wedding party's entrance and the introductions began! Once all of the wedding party was inside and lined up, Philip and Amy were introduced. They walked straight to the center of the dance floor to a roar of applause! Cue the music - Bryan Adams "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You" was their first song as husband and wife.
After Amy's dance with her father we welcomed him to the center of the dance floor for a brief welcome. A prayer by Ed Davis prompted the release of the wedding party table to the dinner buffet which had been fully assembled and decorated outside on the patio by the professionals at Triangle Catering. It looked (and smelled) wonderful!
As the guests wrapped up their dinner, the toasts were cued up, followed immediately by the cake cutting. Once the cake was wiped from the faces of Amy and Philip, the dance floor opened up with immediate approval! The party had begun!
Dancing went "full throttle" from the very first song!
We took a break from the dancing only to toss the bouquet and remove and toss the garter...then it was back to party!
The dancing and party took several fun turns that included surprise vocals to "Hot N Here" by Nelly and more! It was a total BLAST!
The last song was Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes - (I've Had) The Time Of My Life and it wrapped up a perfect evening!
